Nurses, doctors, EMT’s, firefighters and grocery store workers and many amazing essential personnel all stepped up to help the community. In order to show that support, __ of Silverheels Towing stepped up by creating an event to lift spirits and support small business during this unprecedented time.
We asked her a few questions in a short interview we hope you enjoy below!
Thank you for joining us and for answering these questions! When we first started seeing posts about the Fairplay Fun Cruise, we were definitely intrigued about not only the event but the person who inspired to take action during this crisis. I first wanted to ask if you could first tell me about yourself and a bit about your business Silverheels Towing? My name is April Stolhand. I purchased Silverheels Towing in 2002 with my husband Tazz.
The COVID-19 Crisis has hit us all hard. When did you decide that the Fairplay Fun Cruise was something that needed to happen? I had the idea for the cruise from fond memories of cruising West Colfax as a teenager in the 80s. I thought it would be a safe way for our community to be together without face to face contact.
Why do you think something like Fairplay Fun Cruise is so important at a time like this? I saw how the restaurants were seriously suffering so I reached out to them to include them in the cruise with take-out options for the cruisers. Jon McCarver from the American Legion had asked me if he could start taking donations to help the legion the second week, of course I was cool with that. Now we are doing food drives for the local food bank and the Senior Center. I’m very proud of our community they’ve really stepped up to help feed others during this time. So many of us have called restaurants to prepay for food for others.
What has been the best thing you have seen that has come out of the Fairplay Fun Cruise? The most important thing I’ve seen during the cruise is the happiness it brings to our residents! South Park Strong
I have seen that the community has really come to support this event. Did any other businesses or people in the community help with the Fairplay Fun Cruise that you’d like to thank or address? Michael Klepper from 102.9 has been a tremendous supporter of this. He does cruise night playlists for us every week!
When do you plan to have the next cruise? The cruise is every Friday throughout the summer. Everyone is welcome to join in. Just stay in your cars, wear a mask if you jump out to grab food from one of our incredible restaurants and wash your hands.
Thank you to Silverheels Towing, Heart of the Rockies Radio and the American Legion for helping to make this great community supporting event a reality! If you are interested in learning more about the cruise, stay tuned on Facebook![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
