  • Platte Springs Trail (Lake George, CO)

Platte Springs Trailhead provides access to the Long Water Trail to the north and the Platte River Trail to the south. Long Water Trail has many switchbacks and gradually descends to its terminus at the confluence of Tarryall Creek and the South Platte River. The Platte River Trail provides access to the South Platte River and is an easy to moderate 3 mile hike through forest and meadow. Both trails were highly impacted by the 2002 Hayman Fire, which may cause hikers to lose the trail because of erosion and other damage, so please use caution.

    Directions:

From Lake George, travel north on County Road 77 (Tarryall Road) for about four miles and turn right onto Forest Road 210. Follow Forest Road 210 to the intersection with Forest Road 295. The trailhead is not far from this point on FSR 210.
